At the “Duo Recital of Yang Ko-woon and Kim So-hyung” to be held at the Recital Hall in the Seoul Arts Center at 8:00 p.m. on September 3, the lyric songs and sonatas of Schubert and Schumann will be performed with both the violin and piano. Schubert’s “Fantasie for Violin and Piano,” Schumann’s “Sonata for Violin,” and others will be played to welcome the coming autumn. The fantasie by Schubert has variations based on his lyric song melodies within the song, while the sonata by Schumann has a richly lyrical ambience.

Lyric songs like “The Linden Tree” and “The Trout” by Schubert and “Dearest May,” “Walnut Tree,” and “Dedication” by Schumann will be played with the violin accompanied by the piano. Violinist Yang said, “The songs were selected to give a try on how well the lyric songs of Schubert and Schumann will be played with the violin.”

Also a nice moderator who adds kind explanations to every concert of hers, she plans to let the audience enjoy her nice talks during this duo concert. This concert is the debut stage in Korea for the pianist Kim, currently working in Vienna, Austria. Kim was selected through an audition at the 60th anniversary concert of normalization between Korea and Austria held on December 1 last year as a soloist with the orchestra, playing Shostakovich’s “Piano Concerto No. 1.” It costs 20,000 to 30,000 won. 1588-7890
