The Navy’s new Landing Platform Experimental (LPX) vessel Dokdo (14,000 tons) is leaving Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction shipyard for its test drive. As the biggest naval vessel Korea has, it reaches up to 199 meters in length, and 31 meter in breadth. It can carry seven helicopters, 13 armored trucks and tanks, two Landing Platform Air Cushion (LCAC) vehicles, and 720 troops. The Dokdo vessel, which had its launching ceremony in July last year, is loaded with cutting-edge equipment and is undergoing various tests. It will be deployed next July.
