Philippine Protest

A woman is demonstrating in front of the American embassy in Manila, Philippines, in commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8 in simulated chains around her arms and tape over her mouth. On the tape is written a Tagalog word meaning oppression or tyranny. The demonstrators called for the protection of women’s rights and opposed to the annual military training exercises between the U.S. and the Philippines.
