The first E.T. (Eat & Travel) film festival, hosted by Daesang, closed up on Sunday. Sponsored by Daesang Holdings, the event allows Korean and Indonesian students to visit each other’s country and produce short films that feature food. Only smartphones are used to shoot films.

Since a total of 24 undergraduates – 12 Korean and 12 Indonesian students – were selected through scenario eval‎uations, they have had three rounds of video conferences starting from last month to coordinate synopses and shooting schedules. Six students – three from each country - make for one team.

The reason behind Daesang Holdings’ hosting is that it has aspired to take social responsibility as the first Korean company to make inroads into Indonesia since both countries established the official diplomatic relationship back in 1973.

“We have planned a film festival in order to fulfill social responsibility with special affection toward Indonesia,” Daesang CEO Jung Hong-eon said at an award ceremony held at Koreana Hotel, Seoul on Sunday.
