Web은 hypertext와 어떤 경우는 hypermedia interface를 통해 아래와 같은 service들을 제공한다.

  1. Gopher로 제공되는 모든 service
  2. WAIS (Wide-Area Information Servers)로 제공되는 모든 service
  3. anonymous FTP sites 에서 제공되는 모든 service
  4. Archie(a FTP search service)의 모든 service
  5. Veronica(a Gopher search service)의 모든 service
  6. CSO, X.500과 whois(Internet phone book services)의 모든 service
  7. finger(an Internet user lookup program)의 모든 service
  8. Usenet에서 제공되는 모든 service
  9. telnet으로 접속할 수 있는 모든 곳
  10. hytelnet으로 접속할 수 있는 모든 곳
  11. techinfo나 texinfo(forms of campus- wide information services)로 접속할 수 있는 모든 곳
  12. hyper-g (a networked hypertext system in use throughout Europe) 의 모든 service
  13. man pages의 형태로 있는 모든 곳
  14. HTML형태의 hypertext와 hypermedia documents
