Our partys Central Committee should be indefinitely postponed and a public survey of confidence be canceled, lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy raised his voice toward party leader Moon Jae-in on Sunday.
Ahns contention directly confronts to the agreement The Central Committee will be held as scheduled and the survey be carried out before Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving Day), that Moon and senior lawmakers had reached a day earlier. Given this, the internal division that was sparked by Moon as he suggested to renew confidence in his position appears to be getting more serious.
Fueling the controversy by saying that the innovation committee has failed, Ahn took issues with Moon on his letter to the party leader that flew direct hit by saying, It is inappropriate to connect innovation draft to confidence vote and try to pass it at the Central Committee.
On the day, the opposition party`s floor leader Lee Jong-geol from the so-called non-Roh Moo-hyun forces said, It is hoped that Chairman Moon will impart the wisdom so that all-out effort could be made for inspection of government office, showing his intention that the public survey on confidence for Moon should be delayed after Oct. 8.
The survey should be canceled, Ahn went a step further from there. He insists that any result of a survey that is unilaterally pushed can hardly have meaningful implication and demanded that a regional discussion of the entire party members for innovation be held.
Lawmakers sided with Moon, however, made it clear that Ahns demand cannot be accepted. Views of senior lawmakers from different factions were gathered, based on which the agreement was reached with Moon. Therefore, the Central Committee will be held as scheduled, they said. "The timing of the public survey and how it would be conducted will be discussed.
