Innerwear with the designer’s names are labeled on them have made debut. Ssangbangwool, a famed underwear maker in Korea, said on Wednesday that it has started inserting the designers` names on the label of fashion underwear, which will be launched within this year. The fashion underwear covers common lingerie, functional innerwear and pajamas.

Designers’ names were inserted by some fashion companies in the past to help assure product quality, but it is unusual that designers’ names are added to the label of innerwear. Designers’ names will be inserted on the label for all types of underwear, except plain white panties and undershirts that do not require special design.

Ssangbangwool’s outlandish attempt is related with economic slump. The company sees the need to emphasize its capacity to design and develop products as a specialized maker of underwear, because a string of new fashion brands have entered the underwear market in succession. A Ssangbangwool source said, “We expect that designers will be more motivated as they will design products by putting their names at stake, and we will able to instill customers with image as a producer of quality underwear.”
