Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na has two candidates in the running for her coach. Both are male and from Los Angeles, and Kim will make her decision shortly.
Kim told this to reporters Sunday at the UNICEF building in New Yorks Manhattan district. She is visiting the Big Apple as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
I have two candidates in mind and both of them are from Los Angeles. I will soon name my new coach, she said.
Her management agency AT Sports said, The new coach will likely be a male living in the U.S. Rumors that the new coach will be someone who coached Mao Asada are not true.
Kim is training at the East West Ice Palace in Los Angeles, where American star Michelle Kwan trained.
Kim also delivered a message of peace at this year`s UNICEF conference. Peace is the driving force of growth and a very important element that encourages young people to obtain various opportunities. We all have to endeavor to maintain peace for a prosperous world and the future, she said.
