Tennis star Maria Sharapova of Russia hits a powerful serve Friday against Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic in a second-round match of the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadow, New York. Sharapova cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win to advance to the round of 32.
