Sungnyemun, designated National Treasure No. 1, is set for a rebirth. The Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea begins the traditional gate`s restoration at 10 a.m. today, the second anniversary of the arson attack on Sungnyemun. Master craftsman Shin Eung-soo, who is leading the project, explains the miniature of the restored gate he made at the National Palace Museum of Korea in Seoul before the project begins. Left is the site of Sungnyemun where the project is being prepared. The project is slated for completion for the end of 2012.
