Dubai opens today the world`s tallest skyscraper Burj Dubai after five years of construction by Samsung Engineering & Construction of Korea.

The opening ceremony to be attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will open at 8 p.m.

Dubai`s largest property company Emaar Properties developed the skyscraper and Samsung was the main builder. Burj Dubai, meaning "Dubai tower," appears as flowers in a spiraling shape.

The tower is the tallest man-made structure on the planet.

Emaar, however, did not release the exact height of the building as part of a marketing tactic to draw international attention. Based on the blueprint of the building, experts say its height ranges from 818 to 824 meters.

Burj Dubai is more than 200 meters higher than Taiwan`s Taipei 101 Tower at 508 meters.
