The National Veterinary Research Quarantine Service said that it will dispatch a special team to the United States to check on U.S. food producers permitted to export beef to Korea.

The special team led by Sohn Chan-joon consists of nine members in four groups. The team is expected to visit 31 U.S. food producers permitted to export their beef to Korea for about two weeks to check if cows older than 30 months are separated for butchering and if specified risk materials are properly separated and removed according to the ages.

The quarantine service also said that the four groups will coordinate their schedules in the Korea Embassy in Washington and conduct their checking separately.
