Election Offenders to Face Severe Scrutiny

Prosecutors warned yesterday that those who stage illegal negative campaigns against general elections candidates will face prosecution even if the accusers withdraw their complaints.

The announcement came after a meeting of all public safety officials nationwide at the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office in Seoul.

Prosecutors said they will probe and detain those who organize “maliciously planned and habitual negative campaigns” or those making up lies about candidates.
