UDP Advices to Vote against Han

The liberal United Democratic Party will likely recommend its lawmakers to vote against the confirmation of Prime Minister-designate Han Seung-soo, according to sources.

However, the UDP, which opposes the appointment of Prime Minister-nominee Han, will not force its lawmakers to follow the party’s recommendation, leaving the final decision to the discretion of its lawmakers.

“At first, we had expected the confirmation of Prime Minister-nominee Han to proceed without difficulty. However, we have concluded that he is not qualified for the post as too many shortcomings of him have been revealed, such as violation of the Public Servants` Ethics Law, military regulations and exaggeration of his career,” a key official of the UDP said Monday.
