Opening of National Institute of Biological Resources

The National Institute of Biological Resources, which has the largest number of specimens in Asia, has opened today. It is located in the Environment Research Complex, Seo-gu, Incheon, a resource hall with a collection of about 1,180,000 specimens of indigenous animals and plants including orchids, wild boar, and tigers. The hall is 67,000 square meters large. In this complex, as many as 17 halls are open with a capacity to display 11 million specimens. The resource hall, which has just 10 percent of the entire exhibitions in this complex, plans to add 500,000 more specimens by 2030. The opening to the public will be on October 11.
