Tropical rainfall carrying thunder, lightening, and strong gusts will continue through August 8.
After that, although the rain will temporarily halt due to a pressure trough on August 11 and 12, rain will hit the nation again.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said, Following last week, this week will continue to have an unstable weather pattern, and sudden torrential rain will occur on several occasions, adding, This time, the rain will pour in a short period in a narrow region, showing a great difference in the volume of rainfall per region.
In particular, on August 7, strong rain is expected to fall accompanied by thunder and lightening centering on the central region.
Accordingly, the KMA advised campers in mountain areas not to be swept by the valley water that could suddenly rise.
The expected rainfall until the night of August 7 is 30 to 80 mm for the five islands on the west coast, 20 to 70 mm for the southeastern part of Korea, 20 to 60 mm for Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chuncheong and North Jeolla, and five to 20 mm for Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
As the rain continues, the temperature will drop, so in the morning of August 6, tropical night patterns will wither in most of the regions nationwide, easing the heat to a certain degree.
Meanwhile, the KMA predicted that a sixth typhoon named Pabuk moving northward in the south-southeastern part of Okinawa, Japan will pass north of Taiwan on August 8, landing on the southern coast of mainland China.
Pabuk is a weak small typhoon with an air pressure of 992hPa and a maximum wind speed of 23 meters per second.
An official at the KAM said, It remains to be seen how much Pabuk will affect Korea by looking at its routes further.
