Will Lee Young-pyo fly high in the Italian sky?

Lee (29) from the British team Tottenham of the Premier League is reportedly in last minute salary negotiations with AS Rome of the Serie-A (Italian premier league).

The soccer news portal Goal.com said on August 30 that although Lee is barely known in Italy, some soccer fans expect outstanding performance from him in Italy. Lee is expected to compete for the left wing position with Argentinean national player Leandro Cufre (28).

Meanwhile, as Cufre is reportedly likely to transfer to AS Monaco of France, Lee stands a greater chance to snatch the position. Since Lee has been appraised to have better striking power than the Argentinean star, Italian fans hope that he will jump start the team’s active play, said Goal.com.

The hotly contested Lee’s transfer fee may cost up to four million euros (approximately 4.8 billion won). His prior transfer from PSV Eindhoven to Tottenham cost three million euros (about 3.6 billion won). Experts say the trade is being done because AS Rome is short of defensive players while Tottenham lacks striking power and wants Ahmed Hossam Mido of AS Rome.
