Delicious Traditional Rice Cake

A cheerful festival kicked off in celebration of the taste of traditional rice cakes. The Korea Traditional Food Institute opened its “2005 Rice Cake Fair” on May 6 at a vacant lot near the institute building at Jongno 3-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The fair includes a competition for making rice cakes in an effort to help the public know the taste of a traditional rice cake. At the fair, Director Yoon Sook-ja (in the middle clad in hanbok) and the staff are shouting “Rice cakes forever!” On May 7, the last day of the fair, rice cakes from the winners of the competition will be exhibited.
