Seven Ministries and Agencies Gather for Emergency Meeting

Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan sent down the directive on the wildfire in Yangyang-gun and Goseong-gun, Gangwon Province that broke out on April 5, saying “Make all-out efforts in containing the fire to prevent casualties.” According to chief public relations secretary for the prime minister Lee Gang-jin, Prime Minister delivered this message after being told of the damages from a telephone call with Kim Jin-sun, the governor of Gangwon Province.

On 7:00 p.m. that day, Lee held an emergency meeting and discussed countermeasures with ministers and vice ministers of seven ministries, including the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the National Emergency Management Agency, the National Police Agency, and the Korea Forest Service at the central government complex in Sejongno, Jongro-gu, Seoul.
