U.S. Base in Chuncheon Returned after 52 Years

The U.S.F.K.’s Camp Page, located in the middle of Chuncheon in Gangwon-do, will end its 52-year existence and disappear into the pages of history. On the afternoon of March 29, unit commander Cecil C. Bell and Chuncheon city mayor Ryu Jong-soo participated in the camp’s closing ceremony, where the U.S. soldiers took down the American and Korean flags. After the shutdown, the camp will retain a minimum staff for maintenance, then be handed over to the Ministry of National Defense in November.
