The profiles of Taeguk Warriors Lee Chun-soo (23) and Seol Gi-hyun (25) have changed after the Olympic games ended.

Lee Chun-soo, the first Korean ever to set foot in the Primera Liga (First League of Spanish Professional Soccer), was leased from Real Socidedad to Deportivo Numancia.

Also, Seol Gi-hyun, who had been a member of Belgium’s Anderlecht, transferred to England’s Wolver Hampton last month on August 28.

Lee Chun-soo, who did not have many chances to start for Real Sociedad, finalized his decision to be leased to Deportivo Numancia in order to increase his playing time. Numancia recently debuted in the Spanish Primera Liga after finishing third in the second league last year.

Seol Gi-hyun’s transfer to Wolver Hampton will serve as Sul’s first step in entering the English Premier League.

Wolver Hampton is a professional soccer team in England’s second league.

During it’s long 127-year history, Wolver Hampton has gone several times from the Premier League (first league) to the second league, and if Seol is able to help his team enter the Premier League next year, he will be the first Korean in history to enter the English Premier League.

Many well-known soccer stars are also being transferred.

English soccer prodigy Wayne Rooney received 56 billion won when he was traded from Everton to Manchester United.

Michael Owen, dubbed the “Wonder Boy,” received 17 billion won when he was traded from England’s Liverpool to Spain’s Real Madrid.

“The shining star of Cameroon,” Samuel Eto, was traded from Mallorca to Barcelona (both Spainish Primera Liga teams), while Argentina’s Walter Samuel was transferred from Italy’s AS Roma to Spain’s Real Madrid for 31 billion won. A total of 12 soccer superstars have been switched teams recently.
