Tropical Night Comes at the End of Summer

People in many regions of the nation spent the last night amid hot temperatures. Seoul first experienced the tropical night phenomenon with the temperature of the Thursday night above 25℃ until Friday morning. The tropical night phenomenon is expected to continue to Saturday morning. The Korea Meteorological Administration said Seoul saw the lows of 25.2℃ from Thursday night to Friday morning, which made many people toss and turn in their sleep.

People in Kangwon, Yeongnam and Jeju provinces also could hardly sleep because of the hot and humid night temperature with 25.5 ℃ in Kangreung, 25.5 ℃ in Ulsan and 26.2 ℃ in Seoguipo. Mokpo and Yeosu experienced tropical night phenomena two days in a row from Wednesday night to Thursday night. If morning temperatures are above 25℃, the night before is called the tropical night.

The official Kim Tae-ryong at the Korea Meteorological Administration explained that high atmospheric pressure from North Pacific with high temperature and much most has expanded temporarily at the southern west of the Korean peninsula, which led to hot wind and higher moisture in the nation. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that the sleepless night will continue in southern parts of the Korean peninsula with Jeju expected to see morning lows of 26℃ on Saturday.

Meanwhile, it is expected to rain on weekends due to a low pressure trough. Kyeongi region and western part of Kangwon province are expected to receive 30 to 60 ㎜ and Chucheong province and the east part of Kangwon province are forecast to receive 20 to 50 ㎜. Jeolla and Kyeongnam province will see 5 to 20㎜ of rain.
