In a regular registration for 2003 university entrance, 45.2% of examinees who succeeded the entrance examination to Seoul National University were successful in Korea University and Yonsei University plurally. There could be a chain transfer which successful candidates secede by finding the better university.
▽Serious Secession to Popular Departments of Korea University ·Yonsei University = According to the Coryo institute on January 30, as the result of analyzing the list of successful applicants of Seoul National University and Korea University & Yonsei University, 2,757 successful students of Seoul National University (45.2%) passed the Korea University (17.1%) and Yonsei University(32.8%) plurally.
The rate of plural successful applicants of Seoul National University decreased by 7.8% over 53% of last year. However, it is higher than 37.9% of 2000 and 35.6% of 2001.
In particular, it is forecasted that there will be the additional registration because students of some department of the college of science & engineering in Seoul National University are highly likely to go to the popular departments of Korea University and Yonsei University.
In the college of humanities of Seoul National University, many successful applicants passed the Korea University and Yonsei University plurally by college; division of language education (72.1%), college of business (71.5%), college of humanities (70.5%). 60% of mathematical statistics division, 52.8% of medicine college and 51.2% of the earth environment science division had the plural success.
Successful students of Korea University passed the Seoul National University by the college as follows; college of law(64.8%), college of politics & economics(25.9%), college of business (19.9%), division of international studies (28.5%) and college of medicine(21.8%). Successful student of Yonsei University passed the Seoul National University by college as follows; college of medicine (41.3%), division of social science (40.6%), engineering division( 35.1%) and the division of humanities (18.8%).
In addition, many successful applicants of popular departments in SungKyunKwan Unviersity, Hanyang University and Ewha Womans University passed in Seoul National University.
▽ Chain Transfer = Each university has announced the successful applicants until February 6 and received the registration of the first successful applicants from February 7∼10. As the chain transfer of duplicated successful applicants is started, owing to the unregistered students, a supplement of the unregistered students is continued through announcement of additional successful applicants (11th day) and additional registration (12th and 13th day) until February 20. Nevertheless, when students are not supplemented, universities will receive the additional applications until February 22∼28.
When the unpopular department of some top universities is less than the full number of students in this process, the chain transfer of successful applicants will be extended to the middle-leveled universities and low-leveled universities.
In Seoul National University, the first registration rate of last year was over 90%. However, some departments of the college of agriculture and life science such as the college of natural sciences (81.8%), the college of nursing (57.6%) and the college of pharmacy (63.6%) executed the additional application for the first time because the successful applicants went to the popular department of Korea University and Yonsei University.
In the college of law, Korea University, only 83 students(43.9%) registered in the first registration for the collection of 189 students. In the college of medicine of Yonsei University having the full number of 93 students, the first registration rate was 69.9%.

▽Standby of Preliminary successful applicants = Universities arranged preliminary successful applicants twice ~ four times as a full number of registered students against a secession of successful applicants. When there is the unregistered student, they notify the preliminary successful applicants of an additional success.
Accordingly, the failed applicants do not need to be disappointed in not being included in the list of the first successful applicants and they must be ready for connecting directly by phone against the additional success.
When students give up the registered university, they submit a note of the registration abandonment and receive the registration fee. Then, they register with the additionally-succeeded university. When students cancel the registration during the term of the registration fee refund prescribed by the university, they can receive the full amount of the registration fee back. However, after that, 10% of the registration fee is deducted.
