Demanding the Strict Punishment to Those Responsible for Chinese Garlic Imports Liberalization

In terms of ‘secret agreement for imports liberalization of Chinese garlic’, the Grand National Party and the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) started the fact-finding together and demanded a strict census.

Lee Sang-Bae, the chairman of policy commission of the Grand National Party said on July 17, “The government covered up the fact and tell a lie. We will demand the government to extend the period of safeguards on Chinese garlic through re-agreement with China for 4 years”.

Nam Gyeong-Pil, the spokesman insisted “The government has not considered, but shifted the responsibility onto other ministries. Accordingly, the government must punish staff in charge and must take proper measures.”.

Lee Nak-Yeon, the spokesman of MDP said “If the government evades this important problem through secret agreement, it is an immoral management. If there is staff who call to account, the government must take appropriate measures”.

Gim, Hyo-Seok, the chairman of Policy Mediation Commission announced “We will find plans to minimize a damage of garlic cultivators and then agree with the government”.
