[Opinion] There Is Reason for Inanimate Opposition

Posted April. 17, 2002 09:06,

The gap between classes, regions, and generations in our society has increased than any other times since last five years.

If we observe the class structure, the middle class that had the largest base to sustain this nation has shrunk highly due to disentangled economic crisis aftermath.

Buffer zone between economic high class and low class has narrowed.

Therefore, rupture of communication or sense of incompatibility has become unusual. Relative sense of deprivation of middle classes who has been nudged out to lower classes for the first time in their life is quite serious.

Therefore, it can`t be abnormal or surprising situation if they increase hostility towards high classes or request equality of classes.

The conflict among regions also faces the same situation.

Current government is based on plain regional union, as well as regional discrimination in appointments has made it more clear following evaluation.

Some urges that it is a temporary situation while reducing discrimination gap, but it clarifies something that such discrimination or adverse discrimination is impossible without regional emotion.

Therefore, Yeongnam region started reinforcing its capture on the power and Honam region is making efforts to protect the same.

People stiffened their mind that they should secure political attorney to someone who represents regional emotion.

Current government pursues making Korea an IT strong country, however, it didn`t consider correcting information gap.

Therefore it made severe differences between generations.

There is not only quantitative gap but also rupture of information between netizens who log on to internet tens times in a day and old generation who collects information relying on old media.

Consciousness of social policy and promoting solution has also become different.

Especially, intensity and enthusiasm of public task, between internet generation having horizontal world view and lifestyle of old generation who has been living in vertical relationship has become different as well as reliance or evaluation of old media too.

If conflict between classes, regions and generations of our society has deepened in the last five years, we should seek responsibility from the current ruling power, considering philosophic principle of representative democracy.

That is the basic reason for choosing responsibility, politics and changing appointment system.

However, contradictory situation is arising such as Presidential candidate who is likely to be selected by the ruling power, uses severe conflict between classes, regions and generations as the soil for enlarging his political basis.

Roh Moo-Hyun wind is guarded by equalitarianism of ex- middle classes who were pushed to lower classes and is supported by new regionalism that is to re-create the power by regional union of Young-Honam province.

In addition, it relies on enthusiasm and joint power of new generation centered on netizens.

Then, what is the reason for mark sheet of the ruling power, which seems to be in an advantage on the opposition and disadvantage to the ruling party, to operate in the ruling party as advantage?

It is because, the ruling party, especially Mr. Roh Moo-Hyun tries emotional approach on such conflicts, and on the contrary, Mr. Lee Hoi-Chang tries rational approach.

The U.S. psychologist Karl Jung had insisted while evaluating the ruling party of the U.S. that it is right to evaluate the ruling party not by ideological dimension but by psychological dimension in Modern society which considers extortion of ideology as general.

And it should be discriminated by the standard of emotional intention and rational intention.

He clarified that approach by emotional intention appeals more rather than approach based on rational intention in 21st century society by equality intention, and improvisatorial.

If it were so, isn`t the reason for the opposition to be powerless originated in its capacity or enthusiasm for strategic measures, which are inferior to the ruling party?

Isn`t this signal that conventional attitude can`t lead political demand of new era.

Or isn`t the evaluation right that the possibility of political change is reducing not because the ruling party is doing well but because the opposition doesn`t play its role properly.

Such titles are the tasks that the opposition should think over this time, I presume.
