U.S. president George W. Bush met with the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak at the White House, and discussed about measures to cease violence in the Middle East and to lead mutual assistance between the two nations. Conference details were not publicized immediately.
Ahead of the occasion, president Mubarak suggested on the 4th that the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) leader Yasser Arafat should come to the dialogue table for a summit conference.
President Mubarak said that Prime Minister Sharon requested him to mediate a secret meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, who recently suggested peace measures in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, an armed Palestinian terrorist fired gunshots at a restaurant in Tel-Aviv on the 5th, and at least 3 Israelis died and 20 were injured. The terrorist was shot to death at the scene.
