The National Assembly announced that the motion to impeach the Prosecutor General Shin Seung-Nam was presented by the Grand National Party to the plenary session on 6th. The ruling and the opposition parties are confronting on the vote for the impeachment on 8th.

Lee Hoi-Chang the president of GNP said, "let`s make a consistent effort to pass the motion to impeach and do our best to persuade the United Liberal Democrats (ULD) because the ULD had thus far expressed its intention to impeach the Prosecutor General."

On the other hand, the ULD unanimously consented to vote against the impeachment of Prosecutor General Shin at its national convention. Kim Hak-Won floor leader said, "even in the case that NMDP avoids voting, all our 15 members will participate in the vote to express our opposition."

Lee Sang-Soo NMDP floor leader said, "we will prevent the vote at all cost because the motion to impeach is itself illegal." Lee didn`t make it clear whether to participate in the vote.

As the schedule for the motion to impeach did not come to an agreement in the floor leaders meeting of the ruling and opposition parties, Lee Man-Sup National Assembly Speaker urged to report the motion to the plenary session. He said, "The motion should be dealt with according to the National Assembly Law. Even though the ruling and opposition parties will not be able to reach an agreement whether to issue the motion to impeach in the plenary session, I will issue the motion with the authority given to Speaker on Dec. 8th."
