One out of Four Adult Absconders Is a Housewife

One out of four adult absconders is found to be a housewife.

National Police Agency revealed on Nov. 21 that, according to the analysis of displacement cases reported to the police for 4 months since July, among 15,503 adult absconders over the age of twenty, 3,888 (25.1 percent) were housewives, and among the total adult female absconders housewives formed 41.2 percent.

When categorized by occupations, the number of housewives who disappeared from home is the largest, next to that of unemployed people (4,741). The number, which was estimated over past 4 months, indicates that almost 1000 housewives a month are disappearing from home.

When categorized by the age ranges of runaway housewives, the range of 30~34 marked the most (221), and 35~39 and 40~44 marked 191 and 163 respectively.

Meanwhile, with regard to the reasons for adult runways, a domestic problem including family trouble marked the most, estimated at 5,228 people (33.7 percent). 371 adults have left home due to unemployment caused by economy slump.
