The members of the rival political camps including Kim Myong-Seop, secretary general of the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP), clashed at Guro-B district in Seoul where reelection is to be held on Oct. 25th.
When secretary general of the MDP Kim Myong-Seop attended a pharmacist meeting at the Pharmacist Center in Guro, Seoul, on Monday, he clashed with the members of the Grand National Party (GNP) watch group, who alleged the meeting as illegal election campaign activity.
Secretary general Kim filed a suit against 50 members of the GNP watch group in the Seoul District Prosecutors Office yesterday, saying that ``I was assaulted by the members of the GNP watch group when I left the pharmacist meeting after saying a few words as a pharmacist.``
However, Kwon Chul-Hyun spokesperson of the GNP disputed Kim`s statement, saying, ``When our members videotaped Kim in the meeting, secretary general Kim got on his car and swiftly left hurting some of the GNP members. Secretary general Kim is lying.``
There are 9 cases so far in which the rival parties filed a suit against each other in relation to the reelection to be held in three districts, such as Guro-B district, Dongdaemoon-B district, and Kangreng district in Kangwon Province. The ruling and opposition parties are preparing additional 10 lawsuits.
The Central Election Administration Committee found 55 cases of violation of election law, including 2 cases of false resident registration.
