Mt. Sorak Fall Foliage Peak This Weekend

The noted mountains in Kangwon Province such as Mt. Sorak and Mt. Odae are forecasted to be dressed with the awesome autumn leaves in this weekend or holiday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said yesterday that the fall foliage in Mt. Sorak began on 27th last month, two days earlier than expected, and would present a grand panorama on this coming Sunday.

For Mt. Odae, the fall foliage were forecasted to begin on 30th last month and to reach its peak around 15th this month. However, as it began on 28th last month, it is expected to hit the climax around 13th and 14th.

And the KMA said that Mt. Chiri tinted about 20 percent of the entire area with autumn colors on 6th, and the whole hills and mountain would be covered with yellow and red leaves around 21st, a week later than Mt. Sorak and Mt. Odae.

Besides, it is prospected that the fall foliage of Mt. Songni will begin on 13th and reach the climax around 23rd, and Mt. Halla will begin to turn yellow and red on 16th, and will attain the acme of its autumn sight around 31st. Mt. Naejang, which is famous for the glorious tints of its autumn foliage, is likely to begin its autumn foliage on 21st, and to color its hills and mountains with autumn tints around November 5th.

An official of the KMA said, ``As the bright weather has continued in September, the abundant sunshine would make the fall foliage even more awesome.``
