It was reported yesterday that South Korea and France agreed to exchange the only original text among the Oegyujanggak documents, which is held by France, a copied text, more than two of which are kept in South Korea.
Senior presidential advisor Han Sang-Jin, as the representative of the Korean negotiators, and the chairperson of the French Board of Audit and Inspection Jacques Sallois, as the representative of the French negotiators, were reported to have agreed on the exchange at a meeting in Paris for the return of the Oegyujanggak documents on Tuesday.
The two sides continued the meeting on Wednesday, which was planned to end on Tuesday, and negotiated the list and the range of the documents for exchange.
President Kim Dae-Jung and French President Jacques Chirac agreed at the summit last October to resolve the issue of the return of the Oegyujanggak documents by exchanging the ancient texts held by both sides.
