The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) announced yesterday that the Korea-China Fisheries Agreement officially comes into effect today.
The representatives of both countries, Director-General of the Treaties Bureau at MOFAT Kim Eun-Soo and Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Seoul Tian Baozhen will exchange diplomatic notes, mutually notifying that all domestic legal procedures are completed in each country.
Since both countries first began negotiating for the conclusion of a fisheries agreement in December 1993, the governments of the ROK and China have officially signed the agreement after undergoing 6-and-a-half years of negotiations last year, and settled the final agreements on its implementation at the meeting between the fisheries ministries of both countries in April.
