The ruling and opposition parties Thursday agreed to act on three reform bills, including the Basic Law on Anti-Corruption, and three financial bills, including the Law on Sound Finance, early next week. The agreement came in a joint meeting of the floor leaders of the three major parties and assistant chairmen of the Finance-Economy Committee and Legislation-Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly.

The floor leaders of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party (MDP), its coalition partner the United Liberal Democrats and the opposition Grand National Party also agreed to adopt the representatives of ADL Consulting and Samil Accounting that are in charge of due diligence of Hyundai Engineering and Construction as witnesses for the Finance-Economy Committee of the Assembly.

The three discussed the issue of summoning chairman Chung Mong-Hun and other Hyundai officials as witnesses for the Political Affairs Committee, but they failed to agree as the ruling MDP set a precondition that a law to treat contributors to democracy be handled within the ongoing extra Assembly session.
