About 150 elementary school children from across the nation will receive unification education through joint camp life with North Korean kids on North Korea¡¯s Mt. Kumgang next month during the winter break.
The Unity Information Newspaper said Wednesday that it will open the ¡°East-West-South-North Pinwheel Camp¡± Dec. 23-27 jointly with the Korean Children¡¯s Academy of Culture and Arts. Participants will be selected from among fourth to sixth-grade students.
The camp is aimed at helping the children of the South and North have dreams and hopes of unification through learning traditional children¡¯s songs, community life, cultural and artistic activities and writing letters wishing for unification, the newspaper said.
It is also designed to encourage the children to harbor the thought that they are one Korean people, it added.
The organizers plan to invite North Korean pupils to the camp and are proceeding with talks with North Korean authorities on the matter.
