Due to hurricane Prapiroon, which is currently moving northwest towards China, and a trough of low atmospheric pressure, downpours are expected from August 31 in the Yeongdong district, Gangwon province and southern regions, while it will gradually grow cloudy and rain heavily in other areas.
The meteorological administration announced on August 30 that the direction of hurricane Prapiroon is difficult to predict, but said it is likely to move north through the West Sea as the trough of high atmospheric pressure positioned over Korea slowly withdraws east. Consequently, the administration forecasted that heavy rain accompanied with strong wind and thunder will dominate the entire peninsula from August 31 to September 2.
