Agencies including the government met today at the Office of Inter-Korean Dialogue in Samchun-dong to discuss the details of the upcoming inter-Korean family reunions, including logistics and the question of financial support. According to Deputy Minister of Unification Yang Young-Shik, those in attendance discussed the practical aspects of transporting selected reunion candidates to Pyongyang. Also discussed was the possibility of the government partially footing the bill for their journey.
The Ministry selected Seoul Sheraton Hotel to provide lodging for the North Korean visitors and the COEX Convention Center as the venue for the meeting of the separated families. The Ministry will also formulate measures for the transportation of visitors between the hotel and the convention center and will set guidelines for security and media coverage. Meanwhile, the South Korean Red Cross announced that as of 4 p.m. today 183 persons sought by the North Korean reunion candidates have been located and found to be alive.
