Samsung SDS has announced on Thursday the launch of Nexledger Universal, the next version of its enterprise blockchain platform Nexledger. Nexledger is the technology that enhances the security and efficiency of transactions between organizations and data storage by applying blockchain technology. It is currently used in joint bank authentication certificate, maritime logistics transportation process, export customs clearance service, etc.

The latest version will provide faster transaction processing with improved security functions by applying “white box cryptography technology,” which prevents hackers from invading a network and decoding an encrypted key. Nexledger Universal is available as platform as a service (PaaS), allowing customers to experience it in the cloud environment without the need for separate server and application installation.

The Korean tech company newly set up a unit dedicated to blockchain in 2015 and released enterprise blockchain platform Nexledger in 2017, followed by this year’s promotion of the blockchain unit to the Blockchain Center. On Monday, the company made the Forbes Blockchain 50 list.

“We are planning to expand their cloud-based blockchain platform by registering Nexledger Universal on cloud marketplaces other than Microsoft’s Azure,” said Jeanie Hong, chief of Blockchain Center of Samsung SDS.
