Hanwha Corporation announced on Wednesday that it will export 30 billion won worth fire-processed articles including commercial gunpowder and detonators to the United Arab Emirates and Thailand.

The Korea-based company will be exporting 9,000-ton industrial gunpowder and 2.6 million detonators to the UAE's gunpowder company Gulf Explosives. Hanwha is planning to supply gunpowder and raw materials after building a local manufacturing plant in. “We are the first Korean company to export industrial gunpowder to the UAE,” said a Hanwha official. “Additional export agreements are to be signed as exported products will be used in local construction projects.”

Separately, Hanwha will be exporting 600 tons of industrial gunpowder and 2 million detonators to "MechChem," a gunpowder company in Thailand. The Korean company will develop its exports strategy in the South East Asia market.

Before embarking the shipment on that very day, Hanwha held a ceremony on Monday at its Boeun plant to celebrate the exports to the UAE and Thailand with the participation of Hanwha Corp. CEO Ok Kyung-suk.
