As the shutdown of the U.S. federal government has continued due to budget allocation issues regarding the building of the border wall, U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned his predecessor Barack Obama’s house fences. He argued for the need of such a wall that stands along the U.S.-Mexico borderlines.

On Sunday, the 9th day of the shutdown, President Trump said on his Twitter account, “President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound. I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security.”

“The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!” he added. It is Trump’s pressing message to the Democratic Party in a situation where he is willing to embrace the shutdown even in confrontation with Democrats for his proposed border wall.

Barack and Michelle Obama rented a home located in the Kalorama neighborhood in Washington D.C. in May 2016 after he retired. One year later, he purchased the house and set up a wall for security purpose.
