The Inje Catholic Church in Inje County, Gangwon Province, which was built right after the Korean War, is being registered as cultural heritage. The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on Monday that it will add “Inje Catholic Church,” which is the representative Catholic architecture in Gangwon Province, and the former "Chuncheon Diocese of the Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help" to the list of Registered Cultural Heritage.

The Inje Catholic Church was designed by a New Zealander missionary Father Hubert (1917-2006). It was used as a town hall immediately after the independence of Korea. Most of the building was destroyed during the Korean War but it was reconstructed based on its concrete foundation in 1956. The former Chuncheon Diocese, which was a facility for training nuns, was built in 1959 and was extended to its present form in 1962.
