City Fishers, a trending South Korean TV show on Channel A, will be adapted into a video game. Channel A and Purple Ocean, a game developer, announced Thursday that they signed a copyright deal on the channel’s popular TV show “Trust and follow me, City Fishers (City Fishers)” to make it into a mobile video game.

Back in 2015, Purple Ocean developed “Fishing Hook,” which surpassed the mark of 50 million downloads over the shortest span of time among similar fishing games. The company said it would harness their knowhow accumulated in the development of Fishing Hook to make “City Fishers M (provisional title)” a more upgrade fishing game.

Purple Ocean is aiming to add more fun to the game by depicting the various fishing spots introduced in the show as realistic as possible. In addition, the developer will adopt a highly responsive user interface of reeling in and out virtual fish with a smartphone, thereby allowing users to feel the actual “pull of live fish.”

In addition to an individual mode, players can participate in regular contests for the biggest catch and the biggest fish. City Fishers M is expected to be released in March next year.

“Viewers of City Fishers had a “healing” experience thanks to the sceneries of the pristine natural environment as well as the parts where the fishers cook and taste the fish they caught fresh from the ocean,” said Lee Dong-man, the president of Purple Ocean. “We will do our best to revive the experiences in City Fishers M for the users of our mobile game.”
