LG Chemicals announced on Tuesday that it would reveal its new Energy Storage System (ESS) product at the ‘ESS Europe 2018,’ which will be held in Munich, Germany on Wednesday and Thursday. The country is the biggest market for residential ESS. The new product that will be unveiled by LG Chem is a model (RESU13) that will be added to the 48 voltage (V) line-up with a capacity of 13.1 kWh. Its capacity is 34 percent larger than the pre-existing maximum model (9.8kWh).

The new product can connect two devices parallelly and expand its capacity up to 26.2kWh. When considering the fact that the average amount of electricity used per day in a single household in Germany is 12.1kWh, the new product may be applied to not only large houses but also small sized entities. LG Chem’s new product will be available in the market from the third quarter (July ~ September) of this year.

“We will launch the new product in the Germany, Australia and United States,” said Jang Sung-hoon, head of the ESS Battery Project Division at LG Chem.
